What Does Europe Want?

WASHINGTON, DC (December 7, 2011) - In conjunction with the critical December 8-9, 2011 EU summit, the Bertelsmann Foundation has published a primer on the four main European actors in the euro crisis. This paper, entitled “What Does Europe Want?”, looks at the positions of Germany, France, the European Commission and the European Central Bank (ECB) on the crisis. The primer also summarizes the policy proposals to overcome the crisis that are under consideration by eurozone leaders, how these proposals fit together, what their chances for passage are, and the timeframe for approval.
