The Geopolitics of Space
In 2025, the Bertelsmann Foundation Fellowship convened a diverse cohort from EU Member States, EU institutions, the U.S. government, and the transatlantic private sector for a five-month program focused on the geopolitics of space. Fellows examined the critical moment facing the transatlantic alliance as it seeks to balance cooperation and competition in an evolving era of space exploration.
The program explored EU–U.S. space cooperation, regulatory alignment, and industrial competitiveness. Over the course of the fellowship, participants engaged with a wide range of senior stakeholders to examine the key dimensions shaping this strategic policy landscape.
