Voter Suppression

How Making It Harder to Vote Undermines Democracy in the United States

With the United States gearing up for the 2020 General Election, we have created a three-part animated series highlighting key factors that have contributed to the erosion of American democracy. The first two episodes focused on gerrymandering and disinformation.

In this final installment, we tackle the topic of voter suppression in the United States by answering these important questions: How did this practice begin? How does it work? What is its impact on voter participation? How can this broken system be reformed?

This animation is part of the Bertelsmann Foundation’s collection of educational videos focused on critical issues in the United States and the European Union.
